For NBCTs

For questions about course enrollment and transcript requests, contact nbcr@gmu.edu. Please note that it will take four to eight weeks to obtain a transcript from George Mason University.

George Mason offers three graduate credits for completion of the Take One! portfolio entry. Use the enrollment form below if you have:

  1. Completed Take One! and received a score or
  2. Attempted National Board Certification and received a score in or after November 2006 for the entry NBPTS has pre-selected for Take One! (typically either portfolio entry 2 or 3)

Before continuing, please note the process to request GMU graduate credits is two-fold and must happen in the following order:

  1. Submit a NBPTS application for the graduate credits. The NBPTS application is required to validate you received a score for the Take One! entry. (see link to application at bottom of page)
  2. Submit a GMU enrollment form for registration at GMU. Once you complete the NBPTS application for graduate credit, you will be directed to George Mason University's web site to register at GMU.

Those who qualify may use the GMU graduate credits as follows:

  1. As elective graduate credits at an institution of higher education (IHE) where you are pursuing an advanced degree.
  2. Toward advancement on the salary scale and/or to meet education and recertification requirements.

Once received, send your GMU transcript to the appropriate school district superintendent and/or school board, school district office, or the state department of education for processing.

Note: Both NBPTS and GMU make no recommendation to IHEs, school districts, or state departments to accept these credits. The acceptance of the graduate credits is at their discretion. For this reason, NBPTS strongly recommends you ensure these credits will be accepted before submitting payment, because no refunds will be issued.
